The Liverpool star discussed his contract situation following the victory over Manchester United.
Liverpool striker Mohamed Salah has suggested that this season may be his final one with the club. The Egyptian forward, who scored in Liverpool’s 3-0 victory over Manchester United on Sunday, addressed his contract situation, with his current deal set to expire next summer.
Speaking to Sky Sports after the win at Old Trafford, Salah said, “As you know, it’s my last year at the club. I just want to enjoy it and not think about it. No one at the club has spoken to me yet about a new contract, so I’ll play my last season and we’ll see what happens at the end. It’s not up to me.”
The striker joined Liverpool in the summer of 2017 from AS Roma and quickly became a crucial player for the English club, netting 214 goals in 352 appearances across all competitions to date. This season, under new coach Arne Slot, who replaced Jurgen Klopp, Salah has already made an impact, scoring three goals and providing three assists in the first three Premier League games.

Salah’s contract situation was a hot topic back in the summer of 2022, with speculation about his future and potential departure. However, Liverpool surprised many by announcing a new three-year contract on July 1st, extending his stay until the summer of 2025. Despite interest from several clubs, including Al-Ittihad, who made a £150 million offer in 2023, Liverpool rejected the bid.
Since then, there have been no discussions about a further extension, and Salah’s recent comments after the Manchester United game may be a way of applying pressure on the club regarding a new deal. Whether this will be his final season with Liverpool remains to be seen.
